Strategic Plan

The Naples Area Board of REALTORS® (NABOR®) is an established organization (Chartered in 1949) whose members have a positive and progressive impact on the Naples community. NABOR® is a local board of REALTORS® and real estate professionals with a legacy of over 75 years serving 8,000 plus members. NABOR® is a member of Florida Realtors® and the National Association of REALTORS®, which is the largest association in the United States with more than 1.5 million members and over 1200 local boards of REALTORS® nationwide. NABOR® is structured to provide programs and services to its membership through various committees and the NABOR® Board of Directors, all of whose members are non-paid volunteers.

The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark which identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and who subscribe to its strict Code of Ethics.

Objective 1: Increase the Professional Development of our Members

Goal 1: Offer classes that build our member’s business Strategies

Goal 2: Plan on how to enhance REALTOR® professionalism that elevates our members and benefits the consumer.

Strategies

  • Offer NAR designation classes to NABOR members for the royalty fee only

  • Offer entry level broker classes

Goal 3: Partner with the Leadership Academy to establish a program that prepares our volunteers for leadership positions.

Strategies

  • Create a method of identifying and recruiting potential future NABOR leaders

  • Instructor Advisory Council and Leadership Development work together to review curriculum and identify areas for improvement.

Goal 4: Offer resources that members can readily access on key topics like fair housing, risk management, and professionalism.

Strategies:

  • Promote Fair Housing month, April, with a member wide campaign

  • Increase the number of risk management videos we create

Objective 2: Strengthen our Advocacy and Influence

Goal 1: More fully engage NABOR in Private Property Rights

Strategies:

  • Engage with local county groups, such as the Collier County Attainable Housing Advisory Committee

  • Develop and publish position statement upon recommendation/direction of the Government Affairs Committee and present recommendation to the Board of Directors for review, discussion and approval/disapproval

  • Publish position statement for public release either through public oral/written testimony, on the NABOR website or relevant industry publications.

  • Identify and prioritize proactive policy initiatives pertaining to Attainable Housing that are in line with the strategic priorities of the organization and can be realized by leveraging government relations, advocacy or grant programs.

  • Monitor all county issues that affect housing and private property rights

Goal 2: Create a Progressive RPAC Culture which leads to increased Investments

Strategies:

  • Educate Investors on NAR sanctioned awards

  • Work with and utilize Aristotle to the best of its ability

  • Identify investors who are near another level and market the value of that new level to them

Goal 3: Participate in a public campaign on the value of a REALTOR®

Strategies:

  • Look for opportunities to get the message out, including inclusion in the Naples magazine and ads in other magazines our vendor produces.

  • Op-Ed pieces to local new agencies.

  • Video campaigns on social media of the value of a REALTOR®

Goal 4: Get NABOR messaging to brokers first

Strategies:

  • Continue to grow the NABOR Broker Forum

  • Explore one on one broker engagement with the leadership

Goal 5: Build relationships with influential people and organizations

Strategies:

  • Staff and NABOR Leadership will cultivate these relationships

  • Hold a summit or at a minimum cultivate relationships between Leadership and advocacy Staff and the City HOA president’s council and other association presidents around the county. Get to know their priorities and leverage our expertise to put out fires before they begin.

Goal 6: Showcase NABOR’s philanthropic efforts to our community

Strategies:

  • Promote all of the charitable efforts we do in the community via news coverage and press releases

  • Partner with NAHREP and Women’s Council of REALTORS® to combine our strength to make a difference in local charities, housing projects and our community.

Objective 3: Enhancing our REALTOR® Tools

Goal 1: Build on the Market Stats success and explore deeper outside analysis and provide tools and messaging that agents can share with their customers.

Strategies:

  • Potentially engage an economist to look for trends and tools/messaging we can provide to the membership

Goal 2: Continue to look at cutting edge technology with the Tech Team evaluating products and services and providing recommendations to the board.

Strategies:

  • The Tech Team should continue to be the point people for the SWFL co-op and should attend industry meetings where new products and services are offered and discussed.

Goal 3: Communicate discount programs to the membership

Strategies:

  • Promote existing programs from NAR and Florida Realtors® to the membership

  • Approach other industries, both state wide and local, to provide NABOR members a discount on their products and services

Goal 4: Explore more support options for the NABOR contracts

Strategies:

  • Work with Legal Resources to increase contracts education

  • Specialized classes, in person and virtually

  • Explore expanding the “Ask the Attorney” sessions

  • Work to expand the new “Attorneys Speakers’ Bureau” to brokers.

Objective 4: Promote Diversity and Inclusion

Goal 1: Partner with NAHREP and Women’s Council of REALTORS®, along with other diverse groups to provide products and services to all of our members

Strategies:

  • Meet regularly and discuss what NABOR can provide to the various demographics of our membership

  • Look for joint charitable projects where we can partner

Goal 2: Keep transparency and inclusion at the forefront of all NABOR governance and activities

Strategies:

  • Review our processes and structure to make sure we don’t have any road blocks to diverse members participating and moving to leadership positions

Goal 3: Advocate for and promote Fair Housing initiatives that support expansion of diversity, equity and inclusionary efforts.

Strategies:

  • Promote the diversity and fair housing events of our partners, NAHREP and Women’s Council of REALTORS®.

  • Have our partners as resources to present to GOVI or other NABOR committees, on the needs of NABOR’s diverse members and consumers.


This Strategic Plan has been adopted by the Board of Directors of the Naples Area Board of REALTORS® and will become the foundation for the Association. It will be reviewed for any modifications at least annually by the Board of Directors.
